Commentary
  • Bangladesh started well with the ball with Hasan Mahmud picking up a wicket in the very first over. They also managed to keep picking up wickets at regular intervals with Taijul Islam starring with a fine five-wicket haul to have South Africa to 108/6. However, they were pretty disappointing from the start of Day 2 and the ball being old also didn't help. They allowed the Proteas to take the game away from them, but Hasan Mahmud did manage to break it just before Lunch and added another the very next ball to see an opening. But they struggled once again to wrap things up as the Proteas tail wagged and wagged long enough which cost them runs and now they need something extraordinary to first diminish this mammoth lead and then set up a target that could trouble the visitors. Join us in a bit to see how things pan out.
  • South Africa have batted brilliantly to take a massive lead of 202 runs as they end the inning at 308 runs. Kyle Verreynne was the star of the show with an incredible ton and was involved in a couple of important partnerships that got them well ahead in the game. Initially, it was Tony de Zorzi and Tristan Stubbs who steadied the ship but batting was not easy at all on the first day. However, that big 119-run partnership between Kyle Verreynne and Wiaan Mulder where the latter notched up his maiden Test half-century as well helped the Proteas extend the lead further. Dane Piedt also played an important part in frustrating the bowlers and adding over 50 runs with the centurion, and putting even more pressure on the hosts.

Mehidy Hasan to Kyle Verreynne, OUT! STUMPED! Mehidy Hasan finishes things off here! Kyle Verreynne tries to be aggressive but loses his wicket this time. This is flighted, full and on off, Kyle Verreynne goes down on one knee for the slog sweep but gets beaten by the flight. His back foot gets dragged out of the crease and Litton Das behind the stumps collects and breaks the stumps in a flash. He looks really confident and the replay shows that he has done a great job here. Kyle Verreynne walks back after a stunning 114 off 144 and South Africa have been bowled out for 308!
  • Is that out? Litton Das is very confident with his stumping effort! The players have started walking off even before the replays rolled back on! Right then, the replay does show Kyle Verreynne to be outside the crease and Bangladesh wrap things up!

Mehidy Hasan to Dane Piedt, OUT! LBW! Mehidy Hasan gets his first wicket of the match in his 15th over! Bangladesh finally breaks the resistance of Dane Piedt. This one is pushed through a bit quicker, short and on middle, turns in a bit too. Dane Piedt stays back and looks to work across the line but gets beaten by the inward turn and the ball hits the pads. There is a huge shout for LBW, and the umpire raises the finger. However, Piedt takes the review here. UltraEdge confirms no bat involved and Ball Tracking comes up with two reds and shows that wickets is umpire's call. The on-field call remains and Dane Piedt has to walk back after a valuable knock of 32 off 87. Bangladesh gets the much-needed breakthrough, and will look to pick up the last one quickly now!

  • DRINKS! Kyle Verreynne, the man of the moment has taken South Africa to a solid position with a magnificent hundred. He is being well supported by Dane Piedt and they look set to extend their lead over 200 runs now. Bangladesh are still searching for the last two wickets, but they are not getting any rewards. The new ball is doing something and the hosts will be hoping to wrap things up quickly or else it will only get harder and harder. An exciting phase of cricket awaits us.
