WhatsApp Set To Introduce Custom Chat Themes For Personalised Conversations

WhatsApp , the widely-used messaging platform with over a billion users in India, is preparing to launch a new feature that will allow users to personalise their chat experience with custom themes. This upcoming update will enable users to customise their chat windows and choose from a selection of preset themes to enhance the appearance of their conversations.

This feature was first identified by WABetaInfo , a website known for tracking upcoming WhatsApp updates. The custom themes are currently being tested on WhatsApp v2.24.20.12 beta for Android. Android Authority , which managed to activate some of the themes, revealed that users will have access to a variety of colour presets, though only a few are functional at the moment.

When the feature is made widely available, users will be able to select from a broad range of wallpapers, which will also impact the chat bubble colours. WhatsApp will also include an option to adjust the brightness levels when switching between light and dark modes.

At this stage, the themes will apply universally to all chats, though WhatsApp may introduce the option to assign specific themes to individual conversations in the future. Unlike Instagram, the themes will be visible only to the user who applies them.

The custom themes feature is still under development and is expected to be released at a later date. In addition, Meta recently demonstrated how users on WhatsApp and Messenger will soon be able to send messages and make calls to users on other apps, as part of its compliance with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, which mandates cross-app communication .
