WhatsApp experienced a major disruption today, leaving thousands of users unable to send messages or post status updates. The issue became widespread enough to spark a wave of reactions online, with the hashtag #Whatsappdown trending across platforms.

According to DownDetector, a website that tracks service outages via user reports, over 463 complaints were logged by 5:13 PM IST, highlighting problems faced by users around the world.

Most Complaints Linked to Messaging Failures

A significant portion of the reports—over 80%—were related to sending messages. About 15% of users noted issues with the app itself, while 4% struggled to log in. Several users also mentioned problems with uploading statuses or sending messages in group chats.

Users Vent Frustration on Social Media

Frustrated users flocked to platforms like X (formerly Twitter) to share their concerns.

One user tweeted, "Is WhatsApp down ? I have been trying to upload the status but it couldn't."

Another user wrote, "I thought it was an issue with iOS 18.4 since I started facing it after the upgrade."

No Word Yet from WhatsApp

As of now, WhatsApp has not issued any official statement regarding the cause of the outage or its expected resolution time.

Interestingly, some users also reported disruptions on other Meta-owned platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram, raising concerns about a broader technical issue.

This outage follows a similar global disruption in late February, which also impacted millions of users worldwide.
