Meta ’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg , shared the news via his WhatsApp channel, saying, “Rolling out some new filters and backgrounds for video calls, so had to test them out,” accompanied by visuals of the latest effects.

According to Meta, these filters are designed to infuse video calls with a fun, dynamic atmosphere. Users can choose between adding colorful effects or opting for a more artistic approach to their video interactions. The background options also provide an added level of privacy, allowing users to replace their real-life settings with cozy or stylish virtual environments, such as a warm coffee shop or a modern living room.

The update includes a selection of 10 new filters, such as Warm, Cool, Black & White, and Light Leak, to name a few. Additionally, users can select from 10 background themes, including Blur, Cafe, Pebbles, and Forest, offering a variety of styles to suit any mood or occasion.

Another handy feature in this update is the option to use touch-up and low-light filters, helping to enhance the visual quality of video calls. These features ensure that users appear clearer and more polished, even in less-than-ideal lighting conditions.

To start using these new features, simply begin a video call, then tap the effects icon in the top-right corner of your screen. From there, you can choose from a variety of filters and backgrounds to customize your call experience.
