Instagram Now Lets You Schedule DMs—Here’s How to Do It in 3 Simple Steps
Instagram, the popular photo and video-sharing platform owned by Meta, has rolled out a new feature that allows users to schedule Direct Messages (DMs). This update is particularly useful for those who want to share memes, reminders, or messages at a specific time, as well as for creators looking to engage with their audience more effectively. If you’re curious about how to schedule a DM on Instagram, here’s a step-by-step guide to using this new functionality.
How to Schedule DMs on Instagram
- Open Instagram and Navigate to DMs: Start by launching the Instagram app. Swipe right from the home screen or tap the message icon in the top right corner to access the Direct Messages section.
- Choose the Conversation: Select the chat where you want to send a scheduled message. Type your message in the text box as usual.
- Schedule Instead of Sending: Instead of tapping the send button, long-press it. A new option labeled “Schedule message” will appear.
- Set the Date and Time: Choose the date and time you want the message to be sent. Instagram allows you to schedule messages up to 29 days in advance. Once you’ve set the timing, tap the blue button to confirm.
Instagram will display a small “Scheduled message” banner at the bottom of the conversation whenever you open the chat.
Tapping this banner will take you to a screen where you can view and manage all your scheduled messages.
This new feature is a game-changer for users who want to plan their communication in advance, whether for personal or professional purposes. By scheduling DMs, you can ensure your messages are sent at the perfect time, even if you’re busy or offline.
