Scheduling text messages is a handy feature that ensures your texts are sent at the perfect time—whether you want to stay organized or avoid sending a message too soon. Both Android and iOS offer ways to delay messages, making communication more convenient. Here’s how to use this feature on your smartphone.

How to Schedule Text Messages on Android
While Android supports multiple messaging apps, Google Messages is the most widely used. Here’s how to schedule a text:

  • Open the Google Messages app on your Android phone.
  • Start a new chat or open an existing one and type your message.
  • Long-press the send button—you’ll see preset time options or the choice to "Select date and time."
  • Pick your preferred date and time, then tap send to schedule it.

Note: Scheduled messages in Google Messages are marked with a small clock icon, making them easy to identify.

How to Schedule Text Messages on iPhone
Apple introduced message scheduling with iOS 18, finally giving iPhone users this useful feature. Here’s how it works:

  • Open the Messages app and tap the "+" icon.
  • Select "Send Later" and choose your desired time.
  • Confirm the schedule and hit send.

Note: On iPhone, scheduled messages appear with a dotted border. However, unlike Android, this feature only works for iMessage (meaning the recipient must also use an iPhone).
