Enter " eco-friendly routing ," the latest offering from Google Maps. This innovative feature goes beyond conventional navigation by offering fuel or energy-efficiency estimations tailored to different routes, factoring in the specific engine type of your vehicle.
With this feature activated, Google Maps not only suggests optimal routes that sidestep traffic and road impediments but also takes into account the potential for fuel or energy savings. Users can expect two distinct route recommendations: the quickest path and an alternative that prioritizes fuel efficiency. Interestingly, the fastest route might not align with the most fuel-efficient one, providing users with a crucial choice.
Activating Eco-Friendly Routing
Enabling this groundbreaking feature on your device is straightforward. Within the Google Maps app, navigate to your Profile picture or initial > Settings > Navigation settings. Locate 'Route options' and toggle the 'Prefer fuel-efficient routes' setting to activate or deactivate it according to your preference. To specify your engine type, select 'Engine type' and choose from options such as gas (petrol), diesel, hybrid, or electric.
