Google has officially extended the availability of Gemini Live to free users on Android, bringing 10 new voice options . Initially launched in August for Gemini Advanced subscribers, this feature is now accessible to everyone in English.

The announcement was made through a post by the Google Gemini App account on X, stating, “Live is now available for all Gemini users in English on the Android app. We can’t wait for you to try it.”

Gemini Live allows users to engage in more natural conversations with the AI. It can be accessed from the bottom-right corner of the Gemini overlay or app, expanding into full screen when in use. Users will find buttons like “Hold” and “End” at the bottom of the interface. Even if the app is closed, Gemini Live will continue running in the background, with users able to stop it by saying “stop” or swiping down to end the session.

According to reports from 9to5Google, the conversations in Gemini Live are accompanied by text transcripts that show the user’s prompts and Gemini’s replies. This allows users to restart conversations from where they left off. At the moment, Gemini Extensions, which would enable users to access services like Gmail and YouTube Music via real-time chat, are not yet available. However, this feature, along with camera functionality, is set to be introduced as part of Project Astra . The iOS version of the Gemini app will also receive Live support in the future. Additionally, users can force-stop the app to apply any new updates.

The 10 new voices introduced with Gemini Live are available for all users. To access them, navigate to Gemini Settings and then to the voice options. The new voice choices include:

Nova: Calm, mid-range voice
Ursa: Engaged, mid-range voice
Vega: Bright, higher-pitched voice
Pegasus: Engaged, deeper voice
Orbit: Energetic, deeper voice
Lyra: Bright, higher-pitched voice
