On Monday, September 30, Ravindra Jadeja made history by becoming only the third Indian cricketer to achieve the remarkable double of 3000 runs and 300 wickets in Test cricket . By dismissing Khaled Ahmed during Bangladesh's first innings in the second Test at Green Park, Kanpur, the 35-year-old Jadeja etched his name alongside former Indian captain Kapil Dev and the legendary Ravichandran Ashwin .

Jadeja's achievement came when he caught and bowled Khaled, who was the final batter to fall in Bangladesh's innings. This milestone places him among cricketing giants as he joins Kapil, who first reached the 3000-run and 300-wicket mark in Tests, and Ashwin, who accomplished the feat in December 2022.

Kapil concluded his illustrious Test career with a total of 5248 runs and 434 wickets in 131 matches, while Ashwin has accumulated 3422 runs and 524 wickets in 102 Tests so far. Jadeja, who now has 3122 runs and 300 wickets, is continuing to prove his worth as one of India’s top all-rounders.

Additionally, with the wicket of Khaled Ahmed, Jadeja became the first Indian left-arm spinner to reach 300 Test wickets and the seventh Indian bowler overall to achieve this milestone. Among Indian Test bowlers, Anil Kumble holds the top spot with 619 wickets in 132 matches, followed by Ashwin with 524, and Kapil with 434.

Other notable Indian bowlers include Harbhajan Singh, who claimed 417 wickets in 103 Tests, Zaheer Khan with 311 in 92 Tests, and Ishant Sharma, who also has 311 wickets from 105 matches.

Jadeja’s Test journey began in December 2012 when he made his debut against England in Nagpur. Although injury kept him out of India’s last Test series against Bangladesh in 2022, Jadeja has returned strong, having taken five wickets in the first Test of this series.

His contribution to the team has not been limited to bowling. In addition to his wickets, Jadeja showcased his batting prowess in this series by scoring a crucial 86 runs from 124 balls and forming a vital 199-run partnership with Ashwin, who scored 113. This partnership helped India recover and post a total of 376 runs in the first innings, guiding them out of a difficult position.
