RCB Break into Top Four, MI Keep Playoff Hopes Alive, CSK Slip to Bottom

Sunday brought a big shake-up in the IPL 2025 points table as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) registered commanding wins to bolster their playoff bids, while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) slipped further in the standings.

RCB Soar to Third with Clinical Win
RCB returned to the top four with a seven-wicket win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mullanpur. Chasing 158, Virat Kohli (73* off 54) and Devdutt Padikkal (61 off 35) put on a brilliant 103-run stand, setting up the win with seven balls to spare. Earlier, RCB’s spin duo — Krunal Pandya (2/25) and Suyash Sharma (2/26) — kept PBKS in check, despite a quick 33 from opener Prabhsimran Singh.

The win lifted RCB from fifth to third in the table, joining Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, and PBKS in the top four — all with 10 points. Lucknow Super Giants are also tied at 10, making the race to the playoffs incredibly tight.

MI Cruise, CSK Crumble
At the Wankhede, MI flexed their batting muscle with a crushing nine-wicket win over CSK. Chasing 177, Rohit Sharma (76* off 45) and Suryakumar Yadav (68* off 30) stitched a blazing 114-run partnership, sealing the game with 26 balls remaining. Ravindra Jadeja was the lone CSK bowler to pick up a wicket.

CSK had earlier posted 176/5, riding on half-centuries from Shivam Dube and Jadeja, who added 79 for the fourth wicket. But their bowlers couldn’t defend the total, and the heavy defeat leaves them languishing at the bottom with just two wins from eight games.
