Delhi Capitals stormed back to the top of the IPL 2025 points table with a heart-pounding Super Over victory against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday. This marked DC’s fifth win in six matches, lifting them to 10 points — two clear of Gujarat Titans.

Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, continue to struggle. With just two wins from seven games, they now sit a worrying eighth in the standings.

The match was a rollercoaster. Chasing 189, Rajasthan got off to a blazing start with Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Sanju Samson hammering 61 runs in just 5.3 overs. But just as Samson looked in ominous form, a rib injury forced him to retire hurt, halting their momentum.

Jaiswal and Nitish Rana tried to steady the chase, but DC’s spinners clawed the game back, tightening the screws in the middle overs. With 73 needed from the final six, pressure mounted. Enter Mitchell Starc.

The Aussie pacer delivered when it mattered most — dismissing Rana with a deadly yorker and then defending nine runs in the final over to push the game into a Super Over.

In the tie-breaker, Rajasthan stumbled to 11/2, undone by two sharp run-outs. DC needed 12, and the calm heads of KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs got them across the line with two balls to spare.

It was a match that had it all — big hits, a dramatic injury twist, and a nerve-wracking finish. But in the end, Delhi held their nerve and reclaimed their place at the top.
