IPL 2025 : Punjab Kings Shake Up the Table with a Thrilling Win Over CSK!

Punjab Kings pulled off a heart-stopping 18-run win against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday, shaking up the IPL 2025 points table and injecting fresh energy into the playoff race.

Rookie sensation Priyansh Arya stole the spotlight, smashing a brilliant 103, while Shashank Singh and Marco Jansen held their nerve in the final overs to guide PBKS to a competitive 219/6. In response, CSK’s chase looked promising with Shivam Dube’s 42 and a late flourish from *MS Dhoni (27)**, but they ultimately fell short at 201/5.

The win pushed Punjab Kings to fourth place, with three wins in four matches. On the flip side, Chennai Super Kings dropped to ninth, managing just one win in five games and a worrying net run rate of -0.889—a rare slump for the five-time champions.

At the top, Delhi Capitals remain unbeaten (3-0) with the best net run rate (+1.257). Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are tied on points (6 each) but trail DC on NRR. These three, along with PBKS, currently make up the top four.

Lucknow Super Giants surged to fifth after an explosive win over KKR, thanks to a blazing 87 off 36 from Nicholas Pooran*. Their win bumped up their net run rate (+0.078) and matched them on points with the leaders, though they still sit just outside the top four.

Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, each with two wins, occupy the sixth and seventh spots respectively. Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad bring up the rear, both with a solitary win—SRH suffering the worst NRR (-1.629) of the lot.

With the season nearing its halfway mark, the race to the playoffs is wide open. And if recent matches are any indication, the drama is only just getting started.
