Mumbai Indians Soar to Third After Crushing SRH: IPL 2025 Playoff Race Heats Up

The Mumbai Indians are back in business! With a commanding seven-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, MI have jumped to third place in the IPL 2025 standings. This crucial win gives them 10 points from nine matches and a healthy Net Run Rate of +0.673, setting them up nicely for a playoff push.

After a wobbly start to the season, Mumbai has found its groove. Hardik Pandya’s squad now boasts back-to-back victories, with both the batting and bowling units firing in sync. With five wins and four losses, MI are firmly in the mix—but with little margin for error as the playoff battle intensifies.

On the flip side, it’s been another rough outing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. This defeat marks their sixth loss in just eight matches. With only four points and a dismal NRR of -1.361, SRH are tied at the bottom with Chennai Super Kings. Pat Cummins and his men have struggled to find rhythm, especially with the bat, and their playoff hopes are fading fast.

At the top, Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals are setting the pace with 12 points apiece from eight matches. Gujarat lead the table thanks to a superior NRR of +1.104, while Delhi’s +0.657 keeps them close behind.

The race for the playoffs is as tight as ever. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants also sit on 10 points, with RCB (+0.472) and Punjab (+0.177) enjoying a slight edge in the NRR department. Lucknow, however, will be wary of their -0.054 NRR in case of tie-break scenarios.

Kolkata Knight Riders, currently seventh with six points and an NRR of +0.212, are still in the hunt—but time is ticking.

As for SRH, CSK, and Rajasthan Royals (also on four points, NRR -0.633), the road ahead looks steep. They’ll need nothing short of a miracle to make the playoffs.

With every game now carrying massive playoff implications, the IPL 2025 season is heading for a thrilling finish.
