IPL 2025 Points Table: Latest Rankings and Net Run Rate after KKR vs GT Match
Gujarat Titans Strengthen Playoff Hopes with Commanding Win Over KKR.
Gujarat Titans (GT) tightened their grip on a playoff spot in IPL 2025 with a clinical 39-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Monday night. With this win, GT now sit comfortably at the top of the points table with 12 points from eight games — six wins and just two losses.
Meanwhile, the battle for the remaining three playoff slots continues with Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings currently holding those positions.
KKR, on the other hand, are slipping. This defeat — their second in a row — leaves them at seventh place with just six points from eight matches. With four teams breathing down their neck at 10 points and Mumbai Indians at eight, the playoff race is tight, and KKR need to find form quickly to stay in the hunt.
In the chase of 199, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane was the lone warrior, scoring a gritty 50 off 36 balls, including five fours and a six. His dismissal in the 13th over, stumped off Washington Sundar, triggered a middle-order collapse. Venkatesh Iyer fell soon after, followed by big names like Andre Russell and Ramandeep Singh.
Prasidh Krishna delivered the knockout blow with a double strike in the 17th over, dismissing Ramandeep and Moeen Ali, effectively sealing the game for GT.
Earlier, GT posted a strong 198/3 after being put in to bat. The foundation was laid by skipper Shubman Gill, who anchored the innings with a superb 90 off 55 balls. He was well supported by B Sai Sudharsan (52), as the duo stitched together a solid 114-run opening stand.
Despite a slow start — only 45 runs in the powerplay — GT picked up pace in the middle overs. Jos Buttler added late momentum with a brisk unbeaten 41 off 23 balls, although the Titans managed just 59 runs in the last five overs, raising some eyebrows about their finishing tactics.
Still, the total proved more than enough as GT’s bowlers did the job and left KKR searching for answers. With form, confidence, and points on their side, Gujarat Titans look playoff-bound, while KKR now face a steeper climb in the matches ahead.
