Gujarat Titans Top the Table, LSG Edge Royals in a Nail-Biter!

Saturday’s double-header in Ahmedabad delivered high drama and big shifts in the IPL 2025 points table . Gujarat Titans (GT) soared to the top after a commanding 7-wicket win over Delhi Capitals (DC), while Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) held their nerve in a last-over thriller to squeeze past Rajasthan Royals (RR) by just two runs.

GT Take Down DC to Lead the Pack
At the Narendra Modi Stadium, Gujarat Titans chased down a stiff 204-run target with ease, thanks to a blistering unbeaten 97 by Jos Buttler. His 54-ball knock, peppered with 11 fours and 4 sixes, formed the core of a 119-run stand with Sherfane Rutherford (43), sealing the win in 19.2 overs.

Earlier, DC had posted 203/8 after being asked to bat. Axar Patel top-scored with 39, supported by handy knocks from Ashutosh Sharma (37) and Tristan Stubbs (31). However, Prasidh Krishna stole the bowling spotlight with figures of 4/41 for GT.

LSG Hold Nerve in Evening Thriller
The second match of the day was a heart-stopper. LSG put up 180/5, riding on half-centuries from Aiden Markram and Ayush Badoni, who stitched together a solid 76-run partnership.

Rajasthan Royals looked on course during their chase, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (74), Riyan Parag (39), and teen sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi (34) taking them close. But LSG pacer Avesh Khan turned the game on its head, dismissing Jaiswal, Parag, and Shimron Hetmyer in a fiery spell of 3/37, restricting RR to 178/5—just two runs shy of victory.

Updated Standings
With these results, GT leapfrog to the top, displacing Delhi Capitals. The top four now reads: GT, DC, Punjab Kings, and LSG—all in playoff territory for now. RR’s narrow loss leaves them languishing in eighth, with only two wins from eight games—making their playoff hopes increasingly slim.

As the league crosses its halfway mark, every game is starting to feel like a knockout. Buckle up—IPL 2025 is heating up fast.
