India’s Squad For ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Announced, Hardik Pandya Named Vice-Captain

The T20 World Cup 2024 squad for India has been finalised by the Senior Selection Committee, setting the stage for an exciting tournament in the West Indies and the United States of America from June onwards.

In the intriguing tussle for the second wicket-keeper spot, Sanju Samson has edged out KL Rahul, while Rishabh Pant marks his return to the Indian squad after a hiatus of fifteen months.
Pant, who endured a tragic car accident in December 2022, has shown remarkable resilience to make a comeback.

Samson's stellar performance in the ongoing IPL, amassing 385 runs at an impressive strike rate of 161.09, has solidified his position as a reliable T20 batsman. His newfound consistency and ability to anchor the middle-order could prove instrumental for India, especially in the absence of power-hitters.

Despite his recent slump in form following his leadership role at Mumbai Indians in the IPL, all-rounder Hardik Pandya retains his position as the vice-captain , reflecting the team management's faith in his potential.

On the flip side, Shubman Gill's lackluster run as captain of Gujarat Titans sees him relegated to the standby list, alongside Rinku Singh of Kolkata Knight Riders, highlighting the stiff competition for spots in the squad.

India kicks off their World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, followed by a highly anticipated clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 09 at the same venue. Subsequent matches against USA and Canada on June 12 and 15 respectively promise to set the stage for an enthralling tournament.
