The National Investigation Agency (NIA) questioned Tahawwur Hussain Rana, one of the conspirators behind the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks , for the second day in a row as part of its probe into the broader conspiracy behind the strikes.

Rana, recently extradited from the US, is currently being held in a high-security cell at the NIA headquarters in New Delhi’s CGO Complex. Security has been tightened around him, with personnel guarding him around the clock, according to sources cited by PTI.

Despite the seriousness of the charges, officials say Rana is receiving no special treatment. “He is being treated like any other arrested individual,” said an officer. However, respecting his religious beliefs, the agency has provided him with a copy of the Quran upon request. He is observed offering Namaz five times a day inside his cell.

In addition to the Quran, Rana asked for pen and paper, which were given to him under strict supervision to prevent any misuse. “He hasn’t made any other demands so far,” an official added, describing him as a “religious man.”

Following court orders, Rana is allowed to meet a lawyer from the Delhi Legal Services Authority every other day and undergoes medical check-ups every 48 hours to ensure his well-being.

Rana was brought to the NIA office early Friday after a Delhi court granted the agency 18 days of custody. The investigation aims to uncover deeper links and plans behind the coordinated attacks that shook Mumbai in November 2008.
