Indian Railways Set To Launch Sleeper Version Of Vande Bharat Express: All You Need To Know

The Indian Railways has announced that it will introduce a sleeper version of Vande Bharat , India's flagship train. Presently, all Vande Bharat trains exclusively feature chair cars. Notably, Vande Bharat trains are renowned for their significantly higher speed compared to conventional trains. Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced these trains in recent months, significantly reducing travel times on select routes.

Although travel times have been significantly reduced, there has been widespread anticipation regarding the introduction of sleeper versions for Vande Bharat trains in India. Fortunately, the wait is over, and a definitive answer has finally arrived.

According to BG Mallya, General Manager of the Integral Coach Factory, the Indian Railways is set to introduce the sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express during this fiscal year. These sleeper trains will not be equipped with air-conditioning and are designed as push-pull trains, consisting of 22 coaches along with a locomotive.

In response to inquiries about the launch date of the sleeper versions of the Vande Bharat Express train, BG Mallya indicated that the launch is anticipated to take place on or before October 31.

Here is the complete statement made by BG Mallya, the General Manager of the Integral Coach Factory:

"We'll be launching the sleeper version of the Vande within this financial year. We'll also be launching the Vande Metro in this financial year. And we'll be launching this train for non-air conditioned passengers, which is called a non-AC push-pull train, which will have 22 coaches and a locomotive. And that launch is going to happen before 31st October..."

The Integral Coach Factory is currently developing a new variant of the Vande Bharat train, featuring a 12-coach configuration designed for shorter-distance travel. Additionally, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh is in line to receive a Vande Bharat Express.

"It is time for Vande Bharat to run on this route. Your Member of Parliament (MP) Sudhir Gupta has already requested for the same. Vande Bharat Express will run on your route soon," Vaishnaw said.
