14 Patanjali Products' Licence Cancelled For Misleading Promotions, Know Items Facing Action

In a recent development, the licensing authority in Uttarakhand has taken a decisive step by suspending manufacturing licenses for 14 products associated with Patanjali , effective immediately. The move, attributed to misleading advertisements, particularly affects products under the umbrella of Divya Yoga Pharmacy , a subsidiary of Patanjali.

The licensing body filed an affidavit with the Supreme Court , confirming the suspension of licenses for 13 products manufactured by Divya Yoga Pharmacy, citing concerns related to misleading advertisements.

The impacted products from Divya Yoga Pharmacy include:

This regulatory action comes amidst a series of legal challenges confronting Ramdev ’s enterprises, with allegations of false claims regarding traditional Ayurvedic medicines sold by Patanjali Ayurveda.

The Supreme Court has taken a firm stance against Baba Ramdev and his enterprises for non-compliance with directives aimed at curbing misleading advertisements of certain traditional Ayurvedic medicines. The April 15 order by the drug regulator of traditional medicines in Uttarakhand led to the suspension of manufacturing permits for Ramdev’s companies.

The legal saga originated from a contempt notice issued on February 27 against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and his associate Acharya Balkrishna. The notice was a response to their involvement in distributing misleading health cure advertisements, prompting the court to restrain Patanjali from promoting products with unverified claims of curing diseases like heart conditions and asthma.

On April 22, Patanjali Ayurveda issued an apology, pledging to refrain from similar mistakes in the future. However, during the subsequent April 23 hearing, the Supreme Court questioned the sincerity of the apology, drawing parallels between its magnitude and the advertisements in question.

In response, on April 24, Patanjali Ayurveda co-founders, Yoga guru Ramdev and Balkrishna, published a new public apology in newspapers.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to deliberate on the matter pertaining to the published apologies by Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna in connection with the misleading advertisement case against Patanjali Ayurveda on Tuesday.
