The veil of secrecy surrounding Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 3 has been partially lifted, and fans are buzzing with anticipation, particularly regarding the controversial " No Russian " mission.

Ever since teasers and trailers for the game began circulating online, the Call of Duty community has been fixated on one specific aspect of the marketing campaign: the reimagined "No Russian" mission.

For those unfamiliar, the "No Russian" mission originally made its debut in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 back in 2009. It was a daring and contentious venture, plunging players into the shoes of terrorists infiltrating an airport, heavily armed and ready to unleash chaos. The mission commenced with a haunting whisper from the leader, "Remember... no Russian," before players were compelled to open fire on a helpless crowd of civilians.

Unsurprisingly, this mission generated a significant amount of controversy and sparked heated debates within the gaming community. Some praised it for its audacious shock value, solidifying its status as one of the most memorable and debated-about missions in gaming history.

Now, with the Modern Warfare series undergoing a makeover, many fans were left wondering if the "No Russian" mission would be reintroduced into the campaign. The newly unveiled Entertainment Software Rating Board ( ESRB ) rating appears to confirm these speculations.

The team at CharlieIntel recently tweeted the game's ESRB rating, which came as no surprise—it's rated M for mature. The accompanying description provided insights into why the rating was assigned, detailing, “A handful of sequences depict more intense acts of violence: terrorists taking over an airplane; terrorists (dressed as police officers and paramedics) shooting/killing fleeing civilians inside a stadium concourse; airline passengers getting shot on a plane; prisoners shot inside a cell.”

The airplane scene mentioned in the description also made an appearance in the game's trailer, featuring an unidentified assailant receiving a chilling text message that simply reads, "No Russian."

At present, it remains uncertain whether this scene will merely be a cutscene or if players will once again assume the role of a terrorist tasked with carrying out these heinous acts.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is set to launch on November 10th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and it seems that the infamous "No Russian" mission will be making its controversial return to the gaming world.
