Amitabh Bachchan Applauds Abhishek Bachchan's Latest Film 'Ghoomer', Embraces Open Praise

Amitabh Bachchan has yet again extended his commendations for his son Abhishek Bachchan 's performance in his most recent movie ‘ Ghoomer ’, indicating a shift away from his reserved fatherly compliments.

Directed by R Balki , ‘Ghoomer’ showcases Abhishek Bachchan in the role of a former cricketer turned coach, while Saiyami Kher portrays a fervent cricketer.

In the aftermath of viewing the R Balki-directed film, Amitabh expressed that the performances and the film's narrative deeply moved him, leading to emotional tears. Taking to his blog late Thursday, just hours prior to ‘Ghoomer's’ theatrical release on August 18, Amitabh penned his admiration for the film. Shabana Azmi takes on the role of Saiyyami 's on-screen grandmother, while Angad Bedi assumes the part of her love interest.

Amitabh's blog post reads, "It is beyond all doubt that Ghoomer is a very superior film. I say this as a father yes, but also as a long-standing member of this fantastic fraternity. At this young age, Abhishek, and in the duration of the time (that) you have been in the Industry, you have played the most complex characters with immense conviction, diversity, and aplomb. Each one (has been) difficult and different, and each (one) successful. My pride has no bounds. It has been tough to be in reserve on compliments and facts. But no more. It has been spoken and shall be spoken ever. My love."

Amitabh and Abhishek's Presence in 'Ghoomer'
Interestingly, Amitabh Bachchan also has a special guest role in ‘Ghoomer’. He assumes the character of a unique commentator within the film. However, it's worth noting that Abhishek and Amitabh don't share screen time in the movie.

In an earlier blog entry dedicated to ‘Ghoomer’, Amitabh had expressed that he watched the film twice on the same day and hailed it as ‘utterly incredible’. He admitted to shedding tears during the viewing, with Abhishek's performance significantly moving him. Amitabh also lauded Balki's storytelling prowess.

In the movie's plot, Abhishek takes on the role of a disillusioned man who frequently attributes his failures to the system and the world around him. Following a series of transformative events, he adopts the mission of coaching Saiyyami to prepare her for entry into the Indian cricket team.
