Swiggy Delivery Agent Uses Sob Story to Deceive Customer in Gurgaon; Internet Users Respond
A startling incident has come to light in Gurgaon , shedding light on the potential risks faced by customers availing of food delivery services. In a recent account shared online, a Swiggy delivery agent allegedly attempted to dupe a customer with an emotional appeal, soliciting a significant sum under false pretenses.
The customer recounted the unsettling encounter on Reddit, narrating how the Swiggy driver, visibly distressed and perspiring, approached with a desperate plea. “This was in Gurgaon but I imagine it’s happening elsewhere too. Receiving my lunch today, I was greeted by my Swiggy driver sobbing and sweating. As soon as I opened the door, he started begging, telling me his pregnant wife is in the hospital and he needs 5000 rupees for the operation which he will return after he gets his salary day after tomorrow,” the customer stated.
However, suspicions were aroused when the delivery agent persisted in his demands, even offering his bike key as collateral. “Besides, this guy kept trying to forcibly hand me his bike key saying you can keep it until I return the money,” the customer remarked, expressing discomfort with the situation. Further raising doubts, the agent insisted on an unconventional payment method through a specific QR code, prompting the customer to take a photograph for documentation.
The situation escalated when the customer refused immediate payment, prompting an aggressive response from the delivery agent. “Few minutes later, I heard a very aggressive knock on my door, which I didn’t open. The Swiggy guy then had the audacity to open the unlocked main door, come inside the house to my room (I have a room in a shared 4BHK) and banging my door loudly. When I refused to open, he started screaming “Sir dena hai toh do, jhootha bharosa mat dilao” and wailing loudly. I just told him to leave or I’ll call the security guard, but he stayed for another few minutes before giving up and leaving,” the customer described.
Concerned by the ordeal, the customer promptly reported the incident to Swiggy, seeking resolution and accountability from the food delivery platform. The account resonated with many online, evoking strong reactions from Reddit users who condemned the agent's intrusive behavior and advised caution in such situations.
