Paragliding promises thrills and breathtaking views, but safety must always come first. A recent tragic incident in Querim, North Goa, highlighted the perils of neglecting safety protocols when 27-year-old tourist Shivani Dabale from Maharashtra and her pilot, 26-year-old Suman Nepali, lost their lives in a horrifying crash.

The accident, which occurred between 4:30 and 5:00 PM, happened when a cable reportedly snapped mid-flight, sending the paraglider plummeting onto rocky terrain. Both sustained critical injuries and were rushed to the hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.

A viral video of the incident, shared by humnagpurkar, has left viewers shaken. Captioned, โ€œ27-year-old Shivani Ishwar Dable tragically died while paragliding in Goa. This incident has shocked the entire city. It is said that the cause of the accident was a rope breaking. Shivaniโ€™s family is currently facing a mountain of grief."

Authorities have taken swift action, booking adventure sports company owner Shekhar Raizada under Section 105 of the BNS Act, 2023, for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The police allege that Raizada permitted the activity without obtaining necessary permissions, knowingly putting lives at risk.

Statements reveal that neither the tourist nor the pilot had valid licenses, raising serious questions about the company's safety standards. โ€œThe accused intentionally permitted the tourist and the pilot, both without a valid license, to carry out paragliding from a height, fully aware that his act would endanger life,โ€ said a police officer.

Investigations are ongoing, but the tragedy underscores the importance of stringent safety measures in adventure sports. This heartbreaking incident serves as a grim reminder that thrill-seekers must prioritize licensed operators with impeccable safety records to prevent such avoidable losses.
