Watch: Trump's birthday letter moves 8-year old to tears

Former US President Donald Trump received online praise for sending a birthday letter to a young boy named Liam , who has a rare brain disorder and growth hormone deficiency .

A video shared last week on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) showed Liam moved to tears as he received the letter as he turned eight. He then asked someone, presumed to be his mother, to read it to him.

Since being posted, a video had received nearly 3 million views and over 73k likes. Social media users praised Trump for this gesture and echoed Smith in criticising the media for not highlighting such actions. One user commented, "Trump is a good man. He doesn't do this and then publicise it. He does it because he knows it'll warm that kid’s heart and that's all he needs. I personally know someone he sent a hand signed letter to for their retirement. You'd never know it."

Accusing the media of not covering Trump in positive light, social media user Kevin Smith posted the video with the caption, "Meet Liam. A New York boy with a rare brain disorder and growth hormone deficiency. Who got a very special 8th birthday letter from a very special person. This is the side of Trump the media WILL NEVER show you."

Smith claimed to have received the video from Liam’s family. "Donald Trump didn’t ask for Credit for this. He just did it. Because he’s a good person. No matter what the media tries to say," he said.
