Sri Lanka recall Oshada Fernando for New Zealand series

NEW DELHI: Sri Lanka has announced their 16-member squad for the upcoming two-Test series against New Zealand. Oshada Fernando has been recalled to the team after a strong performance for the Sri Lanka 'A' side against South Africa, where he scored 122 and 80 runs.


Fernando had last played for the Test team against New Zealand in March 2023.

Nishan Madushka, who struggled in the previous series against England by scoring only 24 runs in four innings, has been left out of the squad.

The selectors have also excluded bowlers Kasun Rajitha and Nisala Tharaka, and have included wicketkeeper-batsman Sadeera Samarawickrama.

The team, led by Dhananjaya De Silva , will play the series as part of the International Cricket Council's World Test Championship cycle.

The first match will take place in Galle and is set to begin on Wednesday with a rest day in between.
