The Houston Texans have faced another setback in their defensive line. The NFL announced that defensive tackle Mario Edwards Jr . has been suspended for four games due to a violation of the league's substance abuse policy. This suspension will keep Edwards out until after the team's Week 10 matchup against the Detroit Lions.

Texans' Mario Edwards Jr. Suspended for Four Games
Edwards has been a consistent starter for the Texans this season. He has contributed significantly to the team's defense with 18 tackles, two sacks, and a fumble recovery. His absence will undoubtedly impact the Texans' defensive strategy, especially considering his experience and production.
The 30-year-old veteran, who signed a one-year deal worth $2 million with Houston in March, had previously played for the Seattle Seahawks in the 2022 season. His current suspension follows a history of similar issues, as he was suspended in 2021 for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs, a two-game penalty at the time.
Houston Texans have not yet released an official comment regarding the suspension, leaving room for speculation about how they will adjust their defensive lineup in Edwards' absence. His temporary departure comes on the same day that defensive end Denico Autry was reinstated after serving a six-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing substance policy.
The Texans secured an impressive victory against the New England Patriots, winning 41-21 in what was rookie quarterback Drake Maye’s first start. C.J. Stroud’s performance was remarkable, as he threw three touchdown passes, while Joe Mixon contributed 102 rushing yards and a receiving touchdown. In addition, the Texans made some roster moves, signing cornerback Gregory Junior to the practice squad and releasing tight end Chris Myarick.
