2-yr-old girl falls into pit nearborewell in Dausa, rescue on

Jaipur: A two-year-old girl fell into a pit near a borewell in Dausa ’s Bandikui area on Wednesday evening. District collector Devendra Kumar said the girl, identified as Neeru Gurjar, fell into the pit barely an inch away from the borewell.

She is trapped about 35ft below and rescue efforts are going on, said SDRF additional SP Rajendra Singh. The SDRF team from Dausa is working along with district administration and an NDRF team to save the girl. Three JCB machines are digging near the pit, but the operation has been slowed by rain.

Oxygen is being supplied to the girl through a pipe and a camera has been lowered into the pit, showing the movement of the child. The incident occurred around 5pm when the girl was playing near the borewell. Due to the rain, a deep pit had formed nearby and she accidentally fell in. By late evening, the teams had dug up to over 20 feet. “An NDRF team from Kishangarh is on its way to Bandikui. They have successfully rescued children from borewells in the past,” said an official.

“The rescuers are in constant communication with the girl and doctors are on standby,” he said, adding that they were also consulting rescue experts for guidance.

The collector and senior officials are overseeing the operation as light rain continues in Bandikui. tnn
