Bhubaneswar: India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Tuesday that the southwest monsoon has withdrawn from the entire country, including Odisha.

The IMD bulletin added that light to moderate rainfall is likely to continue in some districts of the state over the next three to four days.

However, on Wednesday, rainfall is expected only in isolated areas across the state. The bulletin attributed the forecast to a well-marked low-pressure area located over the Bay of Bengal.

According to the IMD, northeast monsoon rainfall activity commenced over southeast peninsular India on Tuesday, following the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon.

The IMD’s cumulative rainfall report for the season revealed that the state has experienced only a 5% deficit in rainfall during the monsoon period from June to Sept, which is considered normal.
