CM to present govt's 100-day report card at Puri meeting

Bhubaneswar: Coinciding with 100 days of his govt, chief minister Mohan Majhi will address a public meeting in Puri on Thursday and present his report card to the people.

Official sources said Majhi, who took oath as CM on June 12, will visit the Jagannath Temple on the occasion before addressing a gathering at Saradha Bali. Two deputy CMs — K V Singh Deo and Pravati Parida — besides other ministers and MLAs will attend the meeting.

Parliamentary affairs minister Mukesh Mahaling said the govt will give its report card to the people. He said within the next few days, similar meetings will be held at the district level where the govt will apprise people about the work done in the 100 days.

State BJP president Manmohan Samal said the govt has garnered the trust and affection of the people within its first 100 days in office by undertaking several path breaking initiatives.

Addressing a news conference at state BJP headquarters, Samal said the Majhi-led govt has showed it is a truly people’s govt by prioritising public grievance redressal.

As per BJP’s poll promise, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Subhadra scheme, which is among the biggest such cash incentive scheme for women, and will result in their true empowerment, he said.

Samal said the govt opened all four gates of Jagannath Temple in Puri for the devotees, opened the Ratna Bhandar and formed a corpus of Rs 500 crore for the shrine’s exigencies. He also listed the creation of a Rs 200 crore corpus for promoting Odia Asmita (identity) and increase in pension for those above 80 years to Rs 3,500 per month compared to Rs 1,200 earlier, as key initiatives of the govt.

Samal said fulfilling its promise to farmers, the govt decided to increase the minimum support price of paddy to Rs 3,100 per quintal.
