Chelsea have signed 'the next Vinicius Jr' as players spill beans in private chat
Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has compared Estevao to Real Madrid sensation Vinicius Jr following the teenager's scintillating start to life at Stamford Bridge. Estevao arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer after the Blues agreed to sign him from Palmeiras last year.
Chelsea have remained unbeaten in their opening three Premier League matches, with a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace being followed by a 5-1 thumping of West Ham and a 2-0 victory over Fulham. Estevao started both victories and laid on an assist against the Hammers. He has sparkled during his time on the pitch and has been tipped to enjoy a sensational career at the top of the game.
Pedro has also been an instant hit at Chelsea after arriving at the club from Brighton in July and helping his team win the Club World Cup in the USA over the summer.
The forward has been the Blues' main man in the early stages of the current campaign and bagged a goal and two assists against West Ham, before finding the back of the net once again in the win over the Cottagers.
And discussing Estevao and fellow Brazilian Andrey Santos during an interview with The Standard, the 23-year-old explained: "I've known Andrey for more than eight years because we have the same sponsor.
"Andrey is funny, we joke a lot. Estevao is shy. It's difficult for him to adapt. I try to push him to ask for his breakfast in English.
"Sometimes training is too long for him and he feels tired before gym. I don't always need to do the gym, but I go with him because this is very important for him. He knows how physical the Premier League is. Me and Andrey push him."
And after being asked what makes 18-year-old Estevao so special, Pedro added: "Mate, he's from the street. You can see he is natural. Tosin [Adarabioyo] said to me, 'Joao, wow. Estevao is amazing.' Playing for Brazil and Chelsea at 18, oh my God. He's going to be like Vinícius Jr."
The three Brazilian players have all been called up by their country this month as the South American giants prepare to host Chile in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday night, ahead of a trip to Boliva next Wednesday.
The players will then be aiming to be involved for their club side when Chelsea make the short trip to Brentford for their next Premier League encounter on Saturday, September 13.
Enzo Maresca's team will then begin their Champions League campaign four days later when they travel to Germany to take on Bayern Munich.
