Russia Poland LIVE: NATO on brink of war as Putin's drone incursion 'is act of aggression'
Poland, a NATO member state, has branded the presence of Russian drones in its airspace an "act of aggression". In a statement shared on the social media platform X, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said it had detected overnight drones in its airspace as a result of an intense Russian attack on Ukraine.
It added: "There was an unprecedented violation of Polish airspace. This is an act of aggression that posed a real threat to the safety of our citizens." Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the country had detected 19 intrusions into its airspace, with four likely being shot down. He added Poland has asked for Article 4 of the Western military alliance's treaty to be invoked. The article woudl trigger a discussion among NATO members about the incident.
