Several senior Manchester United stars reportedly advised Alejandro Garnacho to adjust his attitude at the club before his switch to Chelsea.

The 21-year-old, who sealed a £40million transfer to Stamford Bridge in the summer, is set to return to Old Trafford when United take on Chelsea in the Premier League. His three-year stint in Manchester was fraught with controversy, marked by disputes with both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.

His biggest public disagreement with Amorim emerged after the winger reacted furiously to being left on the bench during the Europa League final loss to Tottenham. Amorim was unhappy with his response, leading to Garnacho spending pre-season training away from United's first team.

He subsequently inked a lucrative seven-year contract at Chelsea, with the Reds securing a 10 per cent sell-on clause. While his skill is seldom questioned, doubts remain about his mindset.

The Sun claim that during his fallout with Amorim, several senior players, including Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro, and Harry Maguire, attempted to persuade him to concentrate more on the team rather than solely on himself.

However, Garnacho appeared to ignore his team-mates' advice, leading Amorim to conclude that he was fostering a negative environment in the dressing room.

His frequent social media posts and remarks in the mainstream press are also said to have irked the former Sporting CP head coach.

Like the rest of the United team, Amorim was initially keen to work with the winger upon his appointment in November. However, his attitude changed after witnessing Garnacho's behaviour in Plzen in December.

The Portuguese manager also became tired of Garnacho's mood swings and tantrums when things didn't go as planned.

Ultimately, a split was unavoidable, and insiders close to Amorim have revealed that he has never regretted his decision.
