A powerful storm has hit China's big city Shanghai. Such a storm has hit Shanghai after about 75 years, the last time Typhoon Gloria hit this city was in 1949. According to Shanghai's Meteorological Department, the storm has entered Shanghai's 'Pudong District' with winds blowing at a speed of 42 meters per second and is moving forward causing destruction. This is the 13th storm to hit China this year, last week Typhoon Yagi hit southern Hainan province, which caused destruction in Vietnam.

According to the report of the government newspaper Global Times, with winds blowing at a speed of 151 kilometers per hour, Typhoon Bebinca is the most powerful storm to hit the city since Typhoon Gloria in 1949. An alert was issued by the administration even before the storm arrived. After which it can be seen that the roads which are usually jam-packed are also empty, strong winds are blowing in the city and the danger areas have been evacuated.

City officials said a red alert has been imposed and about 9,000 people have been evacuated from Chongming district, an island located at the mouth of the Yangtze River. The administration has ordered all ships to return to the port to avoid the sea storm. Some pictures from the northern Baoshan district show trees and other infrastructure shaking on the road due to the severe storm.

The administration has already deployed thousands of relief and rescue staff to deal with any emergency. Due to storm Bebinca, air services have been stopped in Shanghai. Shanghai Railway Station has announced that rail services on many tracks passing through the city will be affected from Sunday to Monday. According to the South China Morning Post, till Sunday, more than 4,14,000 people have been evacuated from Shanghai city with a population of 2.5 crores and all highways in the city have been closed.

At least four people were killed and 95 injured when Typhoon Yagi struck China's southern Hainan this month, national weather officials said. Bebinca also passed through Japan and the central and southern Philippines, where six people were reported dead after trees fell on them. CCTV said Bebinca was expected to move northwest, bringing heavy rain and strong winds to Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui provinces.
