400 New TB Cases Found In Manipur: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla said on Thursday that more than 400 new cases of TB were reported in 6 districts of the state after the 100-day TB eradication campaign began on December 7 last year. The governor said that about one lakh people were screened during this period. To ensure early diagnosis and treatment in remote areas, door-to-door screening was done through mobile vehicles called 'Nikshay Vahan'.

 

State government's initiative

The governor said that under the 'Nikshay Mitra' initiative, people and organizations have been nominated who have pledged to help TB patients through nutritional health.

The state level celebration of the 44th World TB Day was held at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan of Manipur.

In his address, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla said that TB remains a major challenge in India and globally and he is aware of the devastating impact of this disease on individuals, families and communities. Today is a day of hope and a day to reaffirm the commitment to eliminate TB by 2025 as envisioned by PM Narendra Modi under the TB Free India initiative.

Committed to eliminating TB,

the Governor reiterated that the government is committed to ensuring TB elimination within the stipulated time and all efforts have been made to achieve the target. He appealed to the people to pledge today to double their efforts to eliminate TB so that future generations can live in a world free from this disease.

Appreciation of staff

The Governor appreciated the health workers, administrators and support staff who contributed in making the rejuvenation programme a success. He distributed certificates of efficiency to the IRL laboratory and prizes to the winners of the painting competition organised for the day.

 

TB awareness

A short film on TB elimination and the profile of a TB-cured patient were also shown, highlighting the importance of early detection and treatment. Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Health) Sumanta Singh said Manipur has excelled at the national level in the 100-day TB elimination campaign, which shows the state's commitment to eradicate the dreaded disease.

'We will succeed'

He said that with the advancement in medical technology, new and effective methods of testing like Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing (NAAT) have been developed, which ensure high sensitivity and specificity in detecting TB. The Manipur Governor expressed hope that with community engagement and participation, the campaign to eliminate TB will be even more successful.

7. Loss of appetite

8. Fatigue and weakness

9. Difficulty breathing
