Raja Chaudhary on his role as Raja Chaudappa Raya in Tenali Rama; says 'I am playing a completely different character this time'

The much-loved historical drama Tenali Rama has returned with fresh twists, bringing new layers to its compelling storytelling. With Krishna Bharadwaj continuing to charm viewers as the witty court poet Tenali Rama, the narrative now intensifies with the arrival of a new character—Raja Chaudappa Raya, portrayed by veteran actor Raja Chaudhary .

Chaudappa Raya is introduced as the noble and rightful ruler of the Keladi kingdom, chosen to ascend the throne over his elder brother Thirumalai Raya (played by Pradeep Tiwari ). However, what seems like a promising reign quickly turns ominous when a terrifying legend begins to haunt the palace. A chilling curse looms—one that claims the life of anyone who sits on the throne. With unrest spreading and fear gripping his people, Chaudappa Raya sets out on a quest to Vijayanagar in search of truth, courage, and redemption.

Speaking about his role, Raja Chaudhary shared his excitement at returning to the show. “It feels great to be back in Tenali Rama once again,” he said. “In the earlier chapter, I played the role of a Sardar, and this time I am playing a completely different character—that of a king called Chaudappa Raya.”

Describing his character, Chaudhary added, “Chaudappa Raya is a fascinating character. He’s a just and courageous king, but he is faced with a situation where even his strength and wisdom may not be enough. The legend of the throne’s curse shakes the very foundation of his kingdom.”

The actor is thrilled to be part of the show’s evolving storyline. “His journey to uncover the truth is filled with unexpected twists. Playing this character is an incredible experience, and I am excited to be a part of Tenali Rama for the second time,” he concluded.
