'Raayan' box office collection day 1: Dhanush starrer and directorial grosses Rs 12 crore

The Tamil film ' Raayan ' was released in theatres yesterday, July 26. The film marks the 5oth project of Dhanush as an actor and it is also his second directorial. The movie was critically acclaimed by fans and critics and it received a lot of postive response. The film on Firday managed to gross Rs 12 crore at the box office, Sacnilk reported.

The movie is said to have made Rs 11 crore in Tamil and Rs 1 crore in Telugu on its release day. Directed by Dhanush, the film cast includes Dhanush, SJ Suryah , Prakash Raj , Selvaraghavan, Sundeep Kishan , Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan , Aparna Balamurali , Varalaxmi Sarathkumar among others. The music for it is composed by AR Rahman .

The movie is a gangster action drama and the cast of the film - Dhanush, SJ Suryah, Kalidas Jayaram and Aparna Balamurali watched the film's FDFS in theatres yesterday morning in Chennai. The film on day 1 sold 4,36,704 tickets and it ran in theatres with a 56% occupancy. With word of mouth positive reviews, the film is said to gross more in the first weekend as the bookings are houseful.

Dhanush plays the titular role as 'Raayan' and the story is about a hotel owner in North Chennai who loses his family in an act of vengeance and tries to hunt down his enemies.
