Exclusive - Mehendi Wala Ghar actor Rushad Rana: Television industry is my school, teacher and guru and it has given me name, fame, fortune and everything

Actor Rushad Rana , who is currently seen in Mehendi Wala Ghar , says that he is constantly on the lookout for good characters . He adds that all his shows have him portraying rather different roles.

“Actually, having done a reasonable amount of work, all kinds of roles are exciting for me, be it positive or negative. Like I said, Anupamaa was a great character for me. The role was not of a negative guy, but he was always being sarcastic with Kavya , which people loved. So that was a very thin line that I was walking on. I wasn't supposed to look negative, but at the same time, I was being a bit crooked with my wife. So, you know, these kinds of characters are very interesting,” he says.

He adds, “Vijay, who I'm playing now in Mehendi wala ghar is an out-and-out positive guy, but they've shown a side of me where I get angry very fast. So, I have anger scenes again. In Kumkum Bhagya , which I did before, mine was a very lovable character. I also had some lighter scenes, some funny scenes that I did in that show. I also got to explore a little bit of the dancer in me, so that was also great fun doing choreography on the songs and all that.”

Ask him what he has learnt from the TV industry , and he says, “The TV industry teaches me to be on my feet. It’s a cut throat industry. As actors we don’t get much time to go through the scenes on the set as well. There are times when we have 2-3 pages of dialogues and we are expected to get ready in 20 mins. I think it also helps me in being relevant because for any creative person it is the more you work the sharper you get. I haven’t been to acting school . Whatever I have learnt, I have learned it all on my feet. So yes, TV is my school, teacher and guru and it has given me name, fame, fortune and everything.”
