Creating a calm and positive environment: Tips for expecting parents
One of the most beautiful experiences in this world and this life is the experience of bringing in another life to this world, to become parents and give birth to a child. Bringing in a life maybe a lovely experience but it is also a highly responsible task. The expecting parents have to be careful about many things that may cause harm to them or the unborn baby. Thus, expecting parents often live a life of stress and anxiety. Their extra cautiousness and constant worrying not only leads them to anxiety but at times, also results in severe cases of panic attacks, breathlessness, developing phobias that may be irreversible after the birth of the child and in worst cases, fatal cardiac arrest.
Why does this happen? Why do expecting parents lose their calm and cool? While there are number of reasons for this but the primary reason for the expecting parents to lose their peace and tranquillity is because of their mind. Their mind makes them blind. So, what is the mind? The MIND acronym expands to Misery , Ignorance, Negativity and Desire. What does the mind do? It is the mind of a person that creates fear, worry, stress, anxiety, regret, shame and guilt. Therefore, all these miseries of the mind become the cause for losing a peaceful and pleasant environment for expecting parents.
It is not that others are free from this misery. The mind is plays its role in every human existence but expecting parents suffer more because they have a humongous responsibility of an unborn child that is to enter the world. Therefore, there is a constant fear. The fear makes them imagine, ‘What if something goes wrong with the baby? What if something happens to our child?’ One has to understand and realize that if something has to go wrong, it will. We can we do only our best to create a safe environment for the unborn baby.
So, what can expecting parents do in their situation? They can make their best effort for the safety and security of the child that is due to arrive. Expecting parents must understand that it is the mind that creates worry. What is worry? WORRY stands for Waste of life, Overthinking, Repeating the fear, Rehearsing a problem and Yearning. Expecting parents start craving and clinging to the unborn child that is to come but they don’t realize that a child is not theirs. A child doesn’t belong to the parents. Sure, it has entered this world through them but a child is a gift from the Supreme Immortal Power , SIP , that we call, God and we as parents have no ownership on that gift. We are simply their caretakers but we humans don't realise this truth and therefore, our mind creates so much misery. This misery exists especially in parents, who are expecting a child. So, what does this misery do? Misery causes stress. STRESS stands for Sad thoughts, Toxic thoughts, Repetitive thoughts, Exhausting thoughts, Sadistic thoughts and Suffocating thoughts. Therefore, it is up to us to overcome our mind.
How can one overcome the mind that is causing fear, worry and stress? To overcome the mind and its bombarding toxic thoughts, we have to still the mind. When we still the mind, we kill the mind. When one successfully stills and kills the mind, they slow down the bombarding negative thoughts and reach a state of Consciousness . The state of Consciousness is calm, tranquil, mindful and thoughtless. In this state, one will accept the Divine Will and surrender. And when one surrenders, they don't hope in wonder. They know that whatever will be, will be. This is the ABC Method to overcome any stressful situation in life – Accept – Be and do your best – and then, surrender to Consciousness.
Therefore, expecting parents must learn to live with FAITH - Full Assurance In The Heart. Expecting parents must learn to live with HOPE - Having Only Positive Expectations. And they should learn to TRUST - Total Reliance and Unconditional Surrendered To the Almighty. When we live with faith, hope and trust, we live with enthusiasm and believe in a Power, a Supreme Power . That will overcome all the trauma that happens in our life drama and we will surrender to the universal Law of Karma because then, we will realize that we are mere puppets and apart from doing our best, we can do nothing but surrender everything to the Supreme.
What else can expecting parents do? Expecting parents must not worry unnecessarily about the unborn child because stress, worry and anxiety will only spoil the health as they release toxic chemicals in the body in the form of hormones and that will do no good for the baby. Expecting parents must remember that the unborn child does not belong to them. Every child belongs to the Divine. Every child, whether unborn or newborn, has its own Karma and it will experience everything in this world based on that. Expecting parents should understand and realize that they are gifted with a beautiful task of taking care of a baby but beyond that, they should not worry.
How can one create a calm and peaceful environment for the expecting parents? Calmness, peace and tranquillity will be attained in a state of Consciousness. Expecting parents should strive to be in Consciousness, all the while. They should learn to surrender to the Divine and accept everything as the Divine Will. This is the simplest way for expecting parents to go through the nine months and cherish and enjoy every moment of it as a game. Constantly trying to be in Consciousness, all the time, will eliminate any chance of guilt, regret, shame, unnecessary fears and negative thoughts. It will lead to a calm, congenial, tranquil and peaceful environment with positive thoughts for the expecting parents that will also affect the unborn in a positive way. So, let us enjoy this journey called life for life is a drama. Let us not worry and spoil the present moment, especially expecting parents!
