In an unusual series of events, Bollywood star Salman Khan received a threatening message last week, demanding Rs 5 crore to settle an ongoing dispute with notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. However, just a few days later, the sender retracted the threat, claiming it had been sent in error and offered an apology. The original message, sent to the WhatsApp number of the Mumbai Traffic Police control room, was alarming in nature.

On October 18, a message was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police's WhatsApp line, warning that Rs 5 crore was required from Salman Khan to "end a feud with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and ensure his safety."

The message allegedly came from an individual associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, stating that the payment was essential to resolve the conflict between Salman Khan and the gangster. The message contained a grim warning, suggesting that failure to comply could lead to severe consequences for the actor, mentioning the recent killing of politician Baba Siddique.

The Mumbai Police reported that the sender warned, "Do not take this lightly; if Salman Khan wishes to stay alive and end his enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, he must pay Rs 5 crore. If the money isn't paid, Salman Khan's fate will be worse than Baba Siddique’s."

In a surprising twist, the same person later reached out to the Mumbai Traffic Police to express regret. A few days after the initial threat, the same WhatsApp number sent another message in which the sender claimed the earlier message was sent by mistake and apologized for the error. The individual conveyed their regret for any harm caused, raising suspicions about the legitimacy of the original threat. In response, the Mumbai Police swiftly acted, tracking the sender's location to Jharkhand.

Authorities have dispatched a team to apprehend the person behind the messages. The feud between Salman Khan and Lawrence Bishnoi stems from a 1998 incident where Khan was accused of poaching two blackbucks, an animal held sacred by the Bishnoi community.

This long-standing tension has led to a series of threats against the actor in recent months, including a shooting incident near his home earlier this year. Due to the growing threats, Salman Khan has been granted Y+ security, which includes a robust police presence outside his Galaxy Apartments residence. Additionally, Mumbai Police have implemented advanced safety measures such as AI-powered high-resolution CCTV cameras equipped with facial recognition technology.
