Jiraiya is a fan-favourite character amongst the plethora of characters in the Naruto universe. With his introduction to the original Naruto series, Jiraiya played a pivotal role in the story and Naruto’s life.

He became Naruto’s family and filled his heart with joy. Along with being an exceptional teacher, Jiraiya was an excellent ninja, feared by Itachi and Pain. His battle prowess earned him the title of Legendary Sannin and he was offered the role of Hokage several times.

We witnessed his battle prowess in his battle against all the Six Paths of Pain; however, another aspect of Jiraiya constantly discussed in the series is his mighty destiny. The old Sage Toad prophesied that Jiraiya’s decision would change the world’s fate.

This was evident when Jiraiya chose to follow Naruto’s path in his last moments and provided crucial intel to the Hidden Leaf. It eventually became the basis for defeating all the Sage of Six Paths Pain along with the teachings of Jiraiya from his very first book.

After Jiraiya’s heartbreaking end, the world, led by Naruto, became peaceful. This peace was hampered when old demons like Isshiki and Momoshiki awakened. The circumstances eventually led to the creation of clones of various characters by Amado, one of them being Kashi Koji.

Koji is a cyborg clone of Jiraiya and follows the same path as his original version. He wants to maintain peace in the world and would do anything to keep it. He is a far better Sage mode user than Jiraiya thus making him stronger than Jiraiya.

His battle prowess is proven in his battle against Jigen. Although presumed dead after this battle, Koji returned with an overpowered Shinjutsu which gives a nod to Jiraiya’s ability to change fate.

Koji and his can see all possible futures along with those which were avoided. This ability allowed Koji to train Boruto and grant him a huge edge in his battle against Code, Jura and his clanmates.

This ability seems like a shout-out to Jiraiya’s extremely powerful destiny where his decision changed the world’s future and kept it from destruction. Similarly, Ten Directions allows Koji to help Boruto and protect the world from getting destroyed.

Amado Sanzu, the creator of Kashin Koji also stated that he used Jiraiya’s DNA with the hope that the latter’s powerful fate could eventually lead to the downfall of Isshiki Otsutsuki. This hope came to life when Koji managed to defeat Jigen which thwarted Isshiki’s plan of reincarnating in Kawaki.

Furthermore, when Isshiki reincarnated into Jigen’s body, he immediately identified Koji as a clone of Jiraiya, the man with a powerful fate. This means that destiny in the Naruto verse is written in the genome of every being.

This was further seen when Momoshiki met Boruto and told him that he had inherited Otsutsuki traits from both his parents, implying that Otsutsuki could read the fate of the entire family through the genome. Thus explaining how Momoshiki could predict Boruto’s future.

These parallels between the real Jiraiya and his clone, Koji, and other characters are a storytelling masterstroke by Masashi Kishimoto.
