Dandadan English Dub Reveals Cast For Turbo Granny, Seiko & Others

Mainichi Broadcasting System Inc. announced the full English dub voice cast for the upcoming Dandadan anime on Aug 25, 2024.

Joining the previously announced Abby Trott (Momo) and A.J. Beckles (Okarun) are the following cast members:

• Kari Wahlgren as Seiko
• Lisa Reimold as Aira
• Aleks Le as Jiji
• Barbara Goodson as Turbo Granny
• Ben Diskin as Serpoian
• Anairis Quinõnes as Muko

The new voice actors also expressed their excitement about joining the project.

Kari Wahlgren, who will voice Seiko, shared her enthusiasm, stating, “I’m having an absolute blast playing Seiko! The show is exciting, hilarious, and non-stop fun. And the cast is wonderful. I can’t wait for the premiere!”

Lisa Reimold, taking on the role of Aira, added, “I still can’t believe I get to be part of such a cool project and work off of the dynamic performance of Ayane Sakura! All of us are really putting in our all to make this show incredible, so I know you’re definitely in good hands with Abby and AJ as Momo and Okarun in the dub.

Aleks Le, who voices Jiji expressed, “I’m incredibly honored to be the English voice of Jiji in the flashy & chaotic world of DAN DA DAN! The way Jiji expresses his emotions, good or bad, through his humor is something that I connected with a lot. I’ve been a huge fan of Science SARU since I was 12, so I’m stoked to be a part of this project. I’m very excited to see how explosive Jiji will be in action!

Barbara Goodson, the voice behind Turbo Granny, noted the humor and energy of her character, “I love the writing! Some of my lines were a bit shocking to me at first, but now, it really makes me laugh. It’s humorous, silly, action-packed and so much fun to play both Turbo Granny and the cat persona! Also, it’s such a pleasure to be directed by Alex Von David. I think it’s going to become quite a favorite!

Ben Diskin, who voices the Serpoian, stated, “DAN DA DAN is a non-stop thrill ride from start to finish. The animation and music are out of this world and I feel so fortunate to be a part of this cool project. I can’t wait for everyone to get to see this awesome show!“

The English dub of Dandadan had its world premiere at Anime NYC on Aug 24.

Dandadan anime produced by Science Saru is set to premiere on Oct 3, 2024. It will be streamed on Netflix and Crunchyroll.

Creepy Nuts performed the opening theme song “Otonoke,” while ZUTOMAYO performed the ending theme song, “TAIDADA”.

Main cast members include:

• Shion Wakayama as Momo Ayase
• Natsuki Hanae as Okarun
• Mayumi Tanaka as Turbo-Granny
• Kazuya Nakai as Alien Serpo
• Nana Mizuki as Seiko
• Ayane Sakura as Aira
• Kaito Ishikawa as Jiji

Fuga Yamashiro will serve as the director of the anime adaptation, with Hiroshi Seko in charge of scripts. Kensuke Ushio will compose the music, and Naoyuki Onda will handle character designs, with Yoshimichi Kameda designing aliens and supernatural entities.

The opening theme, Otonoke, is performed by Creepy Nuts.

Dandadan is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service since April 2021, with its chapters collected into 15 tankobon volumes as of July 2024.

The series is simultaneously published in English and Spanish on Shueisha’s Manga Plus platform and in English on Viz Media’s Shonen Jump website.
