ICW 2024: Taha Shah Badussha turned showstopper for Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla

Hyundai FDCI India Couture Week began in the capital with ace couturier duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Koshla showcasing the opening show. Set in a lux hotel in Central Delhi, the show set the tone for the upcoming days of the fashion fiesta. 

The designer duo showcased "Asal" and "Mard" bridal couture collections, and it had everything for everyone. Whether you are a modern girl who likes to keep it chic or a traditional girl who goes back to the roots of bridal fashion.

Menswear pieces were no different either. If you want a traditional sherwani -you got it, if you want a sensual sheer kurta- you got it, if you want to channel your inner Ranveer Singh with a flirty anarkali- you got it. 

The collection combined a fresh perspective with the beauty of everything old, namely textiles, embroideries, clothing, and the haveli as a backdrop. The collection drew from our extensive archives to create a series of collections that paid homage to the flawless craftsmanship and time-honored history of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla's original designs.

The collection was inspired by the age-old stories of Rajas and Rajkumaris, which became evident as the show concluded. 

Abu Sandeep “We aim to celebrate the spirit of love between modern couples, a bride who carries her cultural heritage with ease and pride, and a regal groom who exudes contemporary sophistication in a modern spirit, thus harmonising the old with the new to create the ideal wardrobe for their big day!” 

The Show started with beautiful white numbers with intricate embroideries followed by soft pastel ensembles. The show further showcased edgy outfits in black and blue. Not to forget, the traditional bride red was also a part of the show. 

Actor Wamiqa Gabbi opened the show in an Ivory Trail Lehenga from the ‘Botanical Bloom’ line, featuring Resham embroidery with ivory silk threads highlighted with pearls and crystals. 

She also closed the show as a regal bride in a Red Lehenga from the ‘Bridal Gota’ collection, handcrafted with Gota, Zardozi and encrusted with crystals. She admitted it was her first time on the runway and ended up feeling "thrilled."

Along with Gabbi, actor Taha Shah Badussha, whom the designer described as the "hottest man in India," walked the ramp in an olive silk tissue long kurta shining with crystal-encrusted flying bird appliques. It was paired with brocade flared pants giving it a modern yet regal touch. 

In another appearance later, he showcased a brocade pant with a detailed textile drape adorned in Zardozi embroidery. His ensemble was finished with a matching Zardozi belt. 

The designers stayed true to their brand's lexicon of bringing traditional methods into the limelight with yet another spectacular showcase.
