Movies from the South have taken over the world and how. People can’t stop raving about the character development, cast, and everything else these films have to offer. A recently released film called Thangalaan has created a lot of buzz and is now coming closer to its OTT release date. Starring Chiyaan Vikram, the movie’s OTT streaming rights have been given to Netflix. The movie was going to release on OTT back in September but later got an updated release date. For those who want to watch it, Thangalaan

 will be released on Netflix on 31st October 2024. 


Plot

The story of Thangalaan, the village leader of Veppur, who resides with his wife Gangamma and their children, is told in this film, which is set in the village in 1850 CE. In an explosive turn of events, a strong tribal lady who guards the wealth becomes enraged and seeks revenge on Thangalaan. He bargains with the British one day for a better life and assists them in finding gold in the village.

Cast and crew

After receiving positive reviews from the Tamil public, the film was released in Hindi. In the film, Vikram plays five roles, with Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathy, and Hari Krishnan. Thangalaan is directed by Pa. Ranjith, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Tamil Prabha and Azhagiya Periyavan. It is produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under the auspices of Neelam Productions and Studio Green. 

Not Malavika Mohanan, was Rashmika Mandanna the first choice for the film?

Director Pa Ranjith first contacted Rashmika Mandanna for Malavika's part as Aarathi in Thangalaan, according to a News 18 report. The actress was offered the role, but she turned it down because she couldn't fit the Thangalaan dates around her other active projects. 

Box office

Over the course of its run, the Tamil film brought in USD 1.825 million from foreign territories, or Rs 15.25 crore in Indian currency. Thanglaan

's total global box office receipts came to Rs 72 crore.
