Odia actor Buddhaditya Mohanty landed in hot water after making a highly controversial statement on social media. In a now-deleted post, Nanda suggested that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's next target should be Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The inflammatory comment led to a police complaint against him. Now, the actor has apologised for his controversial remark.

Calling his post a "human error", he said, "I had realised that the post, which I had based on rumours floating around on social media, was a mistake and also deleted it. I had earlier apologised for it on Facebook."

He had previously as well posted an apology that read, "My last post regarding Rahul Gandhiji... was never to target.. harm, demean him in any way... nor write anything against him... unintentionally if I affected anyone's sentiments... my intention was not this... I offer my sincere apologies... regards."

What did Buddhaditya Mohanty's controversial Facebook post say?

In his post, Mohanty said that gangster Lawrence Bishnoi who recently claimed responsibility for Baba Siddique's murder and threatened Salman Khan should target Rahul Gandhi and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. "Germany had the Gestapo… Israel has the Mossad… USA has the CIA… now India has Lawrence Bishnoi… next in the list should be Owaisi and Rahul Gandhi," he wrote on social media. 

NSUI's police complaint

Following his comment, the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) -- the student wing of the Congress party -- registered a police complaint against him. The Police are currently investigating the matter. In the social media post, Mohanty said that after killing NCP leader Baba Siddique, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's next target should be Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. We cannot tolerate such a remark against our leader," NSUI president Udit Pradhan told PTI after lodging a complaint against him. After massive backlash and complaint, Buddhaditya Mohanty issued an apology on Facebook after deleting the post.
