National Scholarship Portal Registration 2024: The Ministry of Education has extended the last date to register on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP 2024) for NMMSS i.e. National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) for the academic year 2024-25. Now the last date to register on the National Scholarship Portal 2024 has been extended to 31 October 2024. Interested and eligible students can apply by visiting the official website .

Verification of scholarship applications on the NSP portal is done at two levels. The first level (L1) is done by the Institute Nodal Officer (INO), while the second level (L2) is done by the District Nodal Officer (DNO). The last date for INO verification (L1) is 15 November 2024 and the last date for DNO verification (L2) is 30 November 2024. Scholarships to students under NMMSS are transferred directly to bank accounts through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS).

The official notification said, "The scheme provides one lakh fresh scholarships every year for students of class IX who pass the qualifying examination conducted by the State/UT Governments. Scholarships continue through renewal for classes X to XII based on the academic performance of the student. The scheme applies only to students of State Government, Government, and local body schools.

The scholarship amount is Rs 12,000 per student per year.
The National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Scheme of NMMSS is implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), a centralized platform for government scholarships. A total of 84,606 new applications and 158,312 renewal applications have been submitted for the scheme till October 15, 2024.

Who can apply
Only those students can apply for a National Scholarship whose parents' income should not exceed Rs 3.5 lakh per annum. Along with this, the student should get at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the class 7th examination, there is a relaxation of 5 percent for SC/ST students.
