Coronation Street 'reveals' Joel's looming downfall as returning character drops bombshell

Joel Deering's days are numbered on Coronation Street, as at least two more witnesses prepared to expose his crimes.

Amid Dee-Dee Bailey, DS Swain and Lauren Bolton doing everything they could to take him down, Carla Connor's recent involvement led to Joel issuing a dark threat. But unluckily for Joel, two other characters recently debuting on the show could finally spark his comeuppance.

We saw the return of teen Ellie, who confessed all to Swain and Dee-Dee about what Joel did to her. Learning about Lauren's experience, Ellie confessed she had been groomed, assaulted and coerced into a sexual relationship by Joel, with him offering her money and gifts.

But following Dee-Dee making a dark discovery about Joel's time at another solicitors firm, a horrendous cover-up was revealed with Ellie being one of his clients. We'd seen Joel threaten her recently, leading to her doing a runner.

But now Ellie was back, while she initially refused to speak on record and give a statement about Joel. Fearing for her safety, she soon changed her mind when she met Lauren and realised she had to help stop Joel for once and for all.

Someone else who had a part to play was Mal, the boss of solicitors company Walcott Associates where Joel worked and groomed clients. It emerged Mal helped cover up what Joel did for the sake of his reputation, with him paying off Ellie and making her sign an NDA never to discuss Joel's actions.

Dee-Dee found out all of this and threatened to expose Mal and his company for what they did, unless he aided her with evidence to bring Joel down and get him locked up. She wanted any messages to Ellie and anyone else he'd groomed, while also wanting witness statements from anyone who knew - wanting them also to stand up in court if the time came.

As Dee-Dee later relayed this information to Swain and Lauren, she was confident they finally had what they needed to expose him and have him charged. She declared: "This is the beginning of the end for Joel Deering", but will Joel finally get his comeuppance?
